My absolute favorite item of clothing right now: The Studio Jacket. I designed this piece to be my ultimate companion during the fall and winter—a garment that provides enough warmth and coverage to wear outdoors, but isn't so heavy or bulky that I can't wear it inside as well. It occupies that perfect middle ground in between cardigan and coat.

Dropped shoulders, sleeves that can be cuffed at just the right spot for you, a fold-over lapel that can also be pinned shut if you'd rather be bundled up, and two satisfyingly rounded patch pockets on the front for warming hands or storing phones and keys. *Jacket pin sold separately, launching soon.

Simple construction allows the easy and elegant silhouette and gorgeous material (expand the "Fabric & Care" tab above to read all about the Climate Beneficial Wool it's made from) to shine. This jacket has purled edges which means the raw material is encased in thread to finish it—a tidy finish that provides delightful delicate contrast, and will also patina with age; expect some subtle wear along the edges, but nothing that will threaten the integrity of the garment. All seams are topstitched down, a minor construction point that has major impact—it prevents the awkward buckling and inward folding that so often happens along seams with thick woolens.

All in all, a true throw-on-and-go-piece, and the one I've been wearing in the studio all winter, true to its name.

Our model, MaryMarie, is wearing the size L/XL. Sizing is very flexible and relaxed, feel free to try sizing up or down depending on your fit preferences.

An immeasurably soft, heavyweight, plainweave wool that holds the shape of our garments with integrity. Gorgeous visible heathered texture—expect flecks of ivory and black throughout, these color blends give our custom-crafted shades their depth—and supple, rich handfeel. Not at all itchy, and super warm without excessive weight. Because of its moisture wicking properties, it’s sure to keep you comfortable on a brisk winter day, breathing as well as insulating.

Our wool is sourced entirely in the continental US, drastically reducing the carbon footprint of this material because it’s not being shipped across the globe. The material is Climate Beneficial™, meaning the ranchers providing our fiber utilize land stewardship practices that sequester more carbon than their operation emits. They are predominantly small, family owned ranches, and they all practice responsible land management, employ local workers, and uphold the Five Freedoms standard for animal welfare.

Our fiber is processed and dyed by a family owned dye house, spinning mill, and weaving mill, all in the Northeast. Supporting these often decades old businesses and continuing to invest in the US textile industry is a point of pride for this project. The weight, weave, and colors of our wool were all intentionally chosen and this material is exclusive to Elizabeth Suzann Studio, making each piece one to treasure.

In comparison to our previous Climate Beneficial™ Wool, this looks and feels almost identical to 2019’s “Heavyweight” weave, despite the elimination of the alpaca fiber. The Fawn color is darker and more variegated, but the Charcoal remains the same. The Olive colorway is new this year.

Hand wash with cold water and wool detergent. Lay flat to dry. For a crisper look, press on high heat with steam and a wool clapper.

*Due to wool's short staple fibers, some pilling is to be expected in areas of high friction. Use a wool brick or sweater shaver to remove pills.

    Jacket of my Dreams

I think I've spent about the last 7 years trying to get cozy since a favorite old Zara sweater cardigan eventually fell apart. Finally I have found coziness again with this jacket!!! Much better than even the old fast fashion friend, and will surely last much longer. The wool is so soft - you want to snuggle in it all day. I'll probably eventually even fall asleep in this lady. Besides coziness, the patch pockets are wonderful. It has the sophistication of a blazer. What else could anyone want?

Gorgeous. Meticulously made. Like all ES pieces, can wear being cozy around the house or in clinic seeing patients. Will wear and love for years to come.

    fall weather must have

Excellent design and quality as usual. I already have an ES canvas jacket which I love and needed this one in wool. Her clothes are super easy to live with and wear like iron. I found the ease in the S/M perfect for my size 5'5", 140 lbs.

    Stunning and well crafted....

Stunning and well crafted. Roomier than expected. It's on me that I should have sized way down. Though cut to be generous, I was swimming in a L/XL and needed to go down at least one. Still working on that.
