Pattern Details

Our favorite, essential tee and dress series. The Georgia is one of the first styles I designed, and the pattern was drafted with universal fit in mind. The shoulder seam and sleeve without an armscye look intentional on all shoulder breadths, the substantial cuff wings out and draws clean lines on any arm, and the various length options follow the rule of thirds creating proportions that work on almost every body.

I was thinking about effortless caftans from the '60s and '70s crossed with the neat, crisp blouses from the '40s when women started wearing separates to work. The architectural drama and movement of a draped oversized top, paired with structure and simplicity - the Georgia Series.

Its boxy silhouette has a modern, utilitarian feeling while still remaining soft and fluid. This pattern includes all three length options: the Georgia Tee, Georgia Dress, and Georgia Midi.

The Georgia Tee is a simple, slightly cropped, easy cut can be paired with just about anything. Plus, it looks great half tucked.

The Georgia Dress hits just above the knee, and the hem dips a bit longer in the back. You can lounge, explore a city, or sprint after a toddler in this dress. Serves as a dress, tunic, or coverup—it's up to you.

The Georgia Midi hits mid-calf, and the hem is slightly longer in the back than in the front. This dress is meant for road trips along the coast, layered over flowing trousers for balmy evening dining all'aperto, and paired with bare feet for lazy afternoons indoors with a good book.

The Georgia is a perfect closet staple. A basic, boxy tee style that can be used a base pattern for endless variations. Make this style in various weight fabrics for year-round wear. Perfectly scooped neckline hits right at the collarbone and doesn’t show bra straps. Substantial cuffs give weight and luxury to the piece but are very straightforward to construct.

Difficulty Level

Beginner difficulty. Suitable for sewers of all levels. This pattern requires topstitching and inserting a bias binding. Choose from Sizes OS Minus-OS Plus 3 and three length options to create either a Tee, Dress, or Midi Dress.

This pattern has 5 pattern pieces in total, and can be completed in about one and a half hours including cutting time.

Recommended Fabrics and Required Materials

Light- to medium-weight fabrics with no stretch will work exceptionally well. Linen, cotton voile, silk crepe, seersucker, tencel, rayon-pretty much anything with some drape will work for this pattern. Lighter weight fabrics will add more drape, and heavier fabrics will result in a more structured garment. You can even try this in a wool or wool blend for a wintry option.

You'll need:
-Fabric of your choice--see detailed fabric requirements here
-All purpose polyester thread
-Sewing machine (capable of a straight stitch)
-Needle

    Great pattern!

I love this pattern. It is a very easy and quick sew. I lengthened about 5cm for my long torso and it fits perfectly. I’ll be making several of these.

    Exactly as shown in photos

The pattern was easy to put together and easy to sew. Instructions were simple. The fit and comfort are great. I will use this pattern as a base for a variety of pieces by changing the sleeves and length.
