These are remnants, or the small amounts of material left at the end of a bolt of fabric. We measure, pack, and list remnants when we have them, and this means they are limited in quantity and we cannot cut or split a remnant into smaller pieces. Buying remnants helps us get closer to our goal of becoming a zero waste studio.

An immeasurably soft, heavyweight, plainweave wool that holds the shape of garments with integrity. Gorgeous visible texture and supple, rich handfeel. Not at all itchy, and super warm without excessive weight. Our sheepswool-alpaca blend is as breathable as it is insulating. Because of its moisture wicking properties, it’s sure to keep you comfortable on a brisk winter day. Our wool is washed in house to give it a brushed, organic finish. Heathered yarn blends un-dyed and colored fiber together for a variegated, earthy appearance.
Our wool is sourced and produced entirely in the continental US, drastically reducing the carbon footprint of this material because it’s not being shipped across the globe. The material is Climate Beneficial (TM), meaning the ranchers providing our fiber utilize practices to sequester more carbon than their operation emits. They are predominantly small, family owned ranches and they all practice responsible land management, employ local workers, and uphold the Five Freedoms standard for animal welfare. The use of alpaca in particular is a move towards aligning the animals natural lifespan with it’s fiber producing life. The fiber is processed and dyed by a family owned dye house, spinning mill, and weaving mill, all in the Northeast. These are decades-old businesses that have weathered the decline of the domestic textile industry, and we are glad to utilize their services.
The finished fabric should serve a wardrobe well for many years and in many applications.
Suitable for outerwear, sweaters, and other creative uses.
Wool is a natural fiber made from the shorn fleece of sheep and alpaca. It is a complete product of nature, and can vary drastically in color and texture based on the animal, climate, and other growing conditions of the season. Differences in base color and texture are to be expected, especially as these are heathered weaves that are intended to have variegated colors. Shade may also vary from bolt to bolt—if you need consistent color for several projects, order the yardage all at once so that we can give you one continuous cut from the same bolt.
This material is grown, dyed, spun, and woven domestically in small batches. Natural imperfections in weave are to be expected and embraced—slubs, nubs, and occasional bits of organic matter are common and part of the beauty of handmade fabric. If you are looking for the homogeny and perfection of a synthetic fiber or highly processed melton or crepe you will not find it in this wool.
Due to wool's short staple fibers, some pilling is to be expected in areas of high friction. Use a wool brick or sweater shaver to remove pills.
