A re-imagining of one of our oldest and most treasured styles—the Artist Dress. We changed the sleeves to a generous raglan style, added a bit of trapeze to the body, and lengthened the hem to hit well past the knee. The seaming pattern allows us to work with the natural grain-line of the fabric to create an incredibly fluid, sweeping, and becoming garment. It appears quite voluminous, but because of the way it's cut, doesn't overwhelm. The material hangs on the body in luscious folds, and the high boat neck hits right at the collarbone.
Roll the sleeves and pair with bare legs for a very casual, summertime look. I also love this style layered over a slip dress or worn denim and belted for sufficient drama, or worn over pencil-straight trousers for a swankier situation. If you need to feel on top of the world, sensing this dress sweep behind me in the breeze as I walk through my day does the trick for me.
Material & Care: Midweight Linen
100% Linen, Oeko-Tex certified. Medium weight, sturdy broadcloth that can be pressed to a neat, crisp finish or left wrinkled after washing for a perfectly lived-in look. Linen possesses natural strength and durability, and it's a super friendly fiber on the environment. It requires very little processing, and is hypoallergenic, comfortable in all seasons, insulating, and absorbent.
Linen is a natural fiber made from cellulose fiber inside the stalks of the flax plant. It is a complete product of nature, and can vary drastically in color and texture based on the growing conditions of the season. Variations in base color and texture are not uncommon.
Natural imperfections in weave are also to be expected and embraced--slubs, nubs, and occasional bits of organic matter are common in linen. If you are looking for the homogeny and perfection of a synthetic fiber or a finely woven cotton you will not find it in linen.
Wash on gentle cycle with cold water. Tumble dry warm. Leave unpressed for a beautifully rumpled look or press on medium heat with steam to remove wrinkles.
Linen is a natural fiber and is expected to wear and fade over time, which we love.
